TAUNTON TOWN 1 BEACONSFIELD TOWN 1
The Rams highly impressive unbeaten away record stayed intact after a late goal secured a draw and a replay in the Buildbase FA Trophy after a long journey into Somerset.
The game was preceded by a moving and well organised Armistice Day Ceremony, perfectly observed by all of the large crowd.
Taunton started brightly and the busy Dan Sullivan headed a good chance wide on two minutes. The Rams weathered the early pressure and nearly took the lead on 12 minutes when a mazy run and fine shot by Andre Costa saw a fingertip save by Lloyd Irish push it onto the bar.
The hosts took the lead on 28 minutes when The Rams defence claimed offside, none was given and Sullivan ran onto calmly slot past Jamie Norris. They then went close on a couple of other occasions though Norris had few saves to make.
The second period – preceded by the sending of the home sides coach – saw The Peacocks ramp up the pressure on The Rams but Michael Peacock and Luke Neville in particular thwarted many of their efforts. At the other end Beaconsfield were finding clear chances hard to come by until the 88th minute when a cross by Aaron Minhas was met on the volley by sub Dan Brown, Irish found it too hot to handle and the travelling Beaconsfield Massive – all six of them! – celebrated with a mixture of relief and joy.
Taunton still had time to miss a point blank header in the six minutes of added time but The Rams deservedly held on to force a replay.
