LUCKY SEVEN FOR SYCOB!

BEACONSFIELD SYCOB 3 NORTH GREENFORD UNITED 2

SYCOB made it seven wins on the trot and moved up to fifth place in the Calor League Central Division but they made hard work of beating a determined North Greenford United who belied their lowly league position and could, with better finishing, have easily won this game.

The Blues started strongly and took the lead on four minutes when some poor SYCOB defending led to a break down the right with the ball eventually reaching Myles Stephenson who calmly slotted home.

Three minutes later and they nearly doubled their lead with again some poor defending by The Rams. It wasn't until the 12th minute that The Rams managed a shot and the 28th minute before they got one on target by which time North Greenford had forced a good save out of James Reading. They should also have scored in the 33rd minute and could well have been 3-0 up if they had taken their chances.

Just before half-time, however, and SYCOB seemed to wake up with Tom O'Regan forcing a great save from Lee Pearce and the big Blues No.1 made two stunning saves on 45 minutes to deny Jack Hutchinson - top class goalkeeping at any level.

At half time manager Gary Meakin replaced Aaron Morgan with Jon-Jo Bates and the change bought new life to The Rams - on 47 minutes the lively Jack Hutchinson skipped through the North Greenford defence to slot past Pearce and SYCOB scented blood. For the next 15 minutes they literally pummelled the Greenford goal with both Ryan Phillips and John Christian going very close.

On 57 minutes they took the lead when a great run by Zak Joseph led to Jon-Jo slotting home under pressure. Almost immediately though North Greenford flashed a shot just past the SYCOB post - The Rams needed another goal to put some daylight between the two teams and it duly arrived in the 61st minute when a great run past almost the entire Greenford defence by Hutchinson led to him shooting past Pearce to put Beaconsfield 3-1 up. Five minutes later and Hutchinson could have had his Jack-Trick but his shot flew just wide.

The last twenty minutes saw North Greenford back on the attack as SYCOB tried to play the game out and on 83 minutes The Blues got a glimmer of hope when David Taylor put one past Reading. Jon-Jo Bates then had a goal bound shot tipped over by Pearce and right at the death Greenford somehow missed a sitter that would have bought them a deserved share of the points.

The Rams weren't at their best against North Greenford but it was still good enough and they have now gone thirteen games unbeaten and can go into forthcoming clashes against Top Five sides Royston, Daventry and Rugby full of confidence.

Come On You Rams!
