RAMS MAN OF THE MATCH: Reece Yorke
Beaconsfield and Frome played out a relatively evenly matched game at Holloways Park, the point gained seeing The Rams move to sixth place in the table.
After both Wes Daly and Callum Webb sent efforts just wide the home side took the lead on 12 minutes when Alex Cathline set up Tony Mendy to fire home his seventh goal of the season. The lead was short lived, however, as a long ball caught out The Rams defence and Kane Simpson ran onto slot past Ravan Constable.
Frome’s Johnny Gorman and Rickie Scott both then went close with decent efforts before Charlie Losasso hit a 30th minute free kick that stung the hands of James Carey. Tony Mendy also went close as did Frome’s lively Kris Miller and Kane Simpson, both bringing out good stops by Ravan.
The second period began with a decent save by Ravan from Miller and then on 54 minutes Callum Webb saw his cross canon off the Frome bar. Gorman for the visitors and Mendy for the home side both went close with efforts before Frome took the lead on 62 minutes when a long range shot by Billy Fletcher flew past Constable.
The Rams hit back two minutes later when sub Brendan Matthew beat Carey to the ball and tapped into an unguarded net. Louis Stead very nearly gave Beaconsfield the lead on 80 minutes but his free kick was well dealt with by Carey. Miller then saw his 83rd minute effort hit the post as both sides chased a winner. In the end it was a point apiece, a fair result.
In truth The Rams were not at their best but still managed to extend their unbeaten League run to seven games . A quarter of the way through the season that’s a pretty good achievement.
