RAMS DESERVED WINNERS!

Southern League Division One Central

Beaconsfield Town 2 - 1 Kings Langley

RAM of the Match: Joe Lawal

Beaconsfield earned a huge 3 points, winning 2-1 at home to Kings Langley.

It was somewhat of a slow start to the game, with neither side really creating too much in the opening exchanges. That changed in the 30th minute, when Joe Lawal showed great feet and strength to force his way through a solid Kings Langley defence before squaring the ball to Cheyce Grant for an easy tap in.

The half time whistle saw Beaconsfield go into the break 1-0 up, in a game that still looked like it could go either way.

The second half started at a much faster pace. Josh Marcon went close with the first attempt of the half, sending a free kick inches over the bar. Kings Langley began to find their way through Beaconsfield’s midfield, creating a couple of good chances. In the 60th minute Beaconsfield had what looked like a stone wall penalty waved away by the referee. Cheyce Grant appeared to be clean through on goal but went down inside the box. Beaconsfield appealed for a penalty, but the referee was not going to be moved.

Kings Langley scored a stunning equaliser in the 66th minute, Bradley Smith firing home from the edge of the box. The celebrations were short lived, as Beaconsfield hit back straight from the restart. A quick move saw Beaconsfield in the box, where man of the match Joe Lawal made no mistake in firing the ball into the back of the net to restore the lead.

The final minutes of the match saw both teams create chances, with Beaconsfield going close to extending their lead as substitute Avto Akhsiashvili’s pace caused a tiring Kings Langley defence plenty of issues.

The game remained 2-1, and the final whistle saw Beaconsfield earn an important 3 points, and a huge win, despite a squad depleted through injuries and illness.
