RAMS DO DOUBLE OVER BLUES

BEACONSFIELD TOWN FC 3 ARLESEY TOWN 1

For the second Saturday in succession Beaconsfield chalked up a 3-1 home league victory - and in the process completed a "double" over visitors Arlesey Town.

With a rejigged team missing several regulars (Charlie Losasso, Ashleigh Artwell, Andy Dean, Sam Deadfield) manager Geoff Warner was forced to field an even younger line up than normal. It was one of those youngsters, Jack McKnight, who set up The Rams first goal keeping his cool to flick the ball up to Aaron Berry to nod home on twelve minutes.

The busy Aaron Minhas then had a good shot saved by Nick Thompson on twenty minutes whilst the 36th minute saw a very good Rams shout for a penalty - after Lee Togwell had been taken down - waved away by Ref James Vallance.

The second half saw Arlesey with the wind in their favour and that might have played apart in their equalizer on 52 minutes when a cross by Luke Abraham was misjudged by Brendan Hazlett and sailed over the keepers outstretched arm. The Rams almost hit back two minutes later when Berry had a good shot saved by Thompson. The visitors grew in confidence as the game went on and always looked dangerous on the break and brought out a good save from Hazlett on 75 minutes.

However, Thompson was still the busier of the keepers and on 85 minutes he made a great double save, from MInhas and Tope Fowudu. Two minutes later, though, he was powerless to prevent Fowudu restoring The Rams lead as a decent cross from the left was slotted home by the forward.

On 89 minutes, following an Arlesey corner, The Rams broke away, Jack Read found Fowudu and he calmly chipped over Thompson to put The Rams 3-1 up.

Considering they were missing so many regulars this was a solid performance by Beaconsfield. It means they reach the Xmas period in the top half of the table and with 38 points on the board - we'd all have settled for that back in August when the season kicked off!
