Rams Man Of The Match: LUKE NEVILLE
Beaconsfield exited the Southern League Challenge Cup at the first hurdle as they went down 2-1 away at Walton Casuals.
The Rams took time to adapt to the Casuals new 3G pitch whilst the home side got quickly into their stride and on there minutes they took the lead as a ball into The Rams area wasn’t cleared properly and it fell to Omari Hibbert who fired through a crowd of players to put his side one up.
The returning Tom O’Regan had Beaconsfield’s first effort of note on nine minutes but it was comfortably dealt with by Denzel Gerrar in the Casuals goal. At the other end Walton sent in a succession of inviting crosses but thankfully for The Rams they had no one getting on the end of them.
On the half hour mark Wes Daly had a goal bound free kick well saved by Gerrar whilst two minutes later Ravan Constable had to be alert to keep out a Walton effort. The visitors got back on level terms on 40 minutes when Stefan Powell twisted and turned his way past the home defence to fire past Gerrar.
The second period was only three minutes old when Walton’s lively Nathan Wood went on a mazy run and his teasing cross fell kindly for Hibbert who calmly slotted home to restore Walton’s advantage.
After that it was very much a case of ‘you have it we have it‘ as both sides traded short periods of possession but without any real cutting edge. Walton’s Kyron Farrell did hit The Rams post on 68 minutes whilst the visitors rarely threatened the home goal.
The Rams now move on to the F.A. Cup and will be hoping for a much better outcome.
Come On You Rams!
