RAMS GO DOWN TO THE WOODS

NORTHWOOD 3 BEACONSFIELD SYCOB 0

A three nil defat sounds like your team were well beaten but SYCOB were not tonked by Northwood. Rather Wood's were able to finish what few chances came their way whilst SYCOB - who had 75% of the play - couldn't convert any of theirs due in part to some good keeping by Berkely Laurencin but in the main to not having anyone "up front" to put the ball away.

The first chance of note came on six minutes when Ollie Jones played Aaron Berry in but Laurencin was quick to smother the threat. Ten minutes later Tom Willment saw his shot saved by the Northwood No.1 and within a minute Northwood - with their first attack of any note -  were ahead when a good run by Ehui saw a cross evade The Rams defence but not Sam Byfield who calmly controlled and stroked the ball home.

The remainder of the first period saw SYCOB create a lot but finish nothing - Omari forced a good save from Laurencin on 26 minutes, Couchy had a tame shot a minute later after some good build up play whilst Ollie Jones put a great shot on target on 34 minutes from about 30 yards out that was superbly tipped over by Laurencin.

The Rams came out fired up for the start of the second half with Couchy shooting wide in the first minute and Jones putting a shot just wide on 48 minutes. How SYCOB didn't score on 50 minutes is a mystery as the ball pinged around the Northwood area with Rams players passing instead of putting their boot through the ball. That inability in front of goal was bound to be punished and on 66 minutes a good run by sub Perry Dicker led to a simple pass to Ehui and he placed the ball past Sam Bunting.

Still The Rams proceeded to have most of the play but no end product was forthcoming and it was no surprise when, on 79 minutes, Woods Rob Hastings got onto a ball over the Rams defence to put his team three goals to the good. SYCOB kept going to the end - Danilson Vincente going close on 90 minutes for example - but it's clear that though the team can make chances they don't have anyone to take them. Get that sorted and hopefully the results will change.

Come On You Rams!
