RAMS HAVE SIX APPEAL!

BEACONSFIELD SYCOB 6 POTTERS BAR TOWN 2

Those Rams fans who chose to go Christmas shopping missed out on a festive fiesta as SYCOB knocked Potters Bar Town for six at a windy Holloways Park.

The Scholars started brightly and had two decent half chances in the first ten minutes. The Rams first chance came on twelve minutes when Zak Joseph turned his marker but saw his shot well saved by the impressive George Kamurasi.

The first thirty minutes saw both teams go near on a couple of occasions but dead on the half hour a great turn by Zak Joseph led to an unstoppable shot to put The Rams 1-0 up. Potters Bar kept at The Rams and it took a goal line clearance by AJ on 43 minutes to ensure SYCOB went in at half time one nil to the good.

The first part of the second half saw Beaconsfield put Potters Bar under sustained pressure with Captain Nathan Poulton having a free kick well saved on 53 minutes, Zak having a god run and shot a minute later and on 63 minutes the same player having a good effort blocked by a last ditch Scholars defender.

The floodgates opened on 68 minutes when Zak Joseph ran at the Potters Bar defence and got a shot off that eluded the defence and might just have sneaked in but the on rushing Tom o Regan made sure it did to chalk up his first goal in a Rams shirt.

Two minutes later and a ball over the top of the Potters Bar midfield fell to Zak who ran on and went past the keeper to score his second and The Rams third. Ten minutes further on and it was four as substitute Kofi Lockhart-Adams made the most of a mix up in the Scholars defence to slot the ball home.

Any hopes of a SYCOB clean sheet were dashed on 82 minutes when (excellent) Ref Ben James pointed to the spot after Tobi Akinjirrin ran at the Rams defence and was bundled over. The No.9 picked himself up and calmly slotted past James Reading.

Thoughts of a Potters Bar comeback were laid to rest on 88 minutes when Zak Joseph completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot and The Rams made it six in injury time when debutant Ryan Phillips scuffed a shot through the Potters Bar defence from the edge of the area.

There was still time for Akinjirrin to grab a second for Potters Bar as he took advantage of some hesitancy in the SYCOB defence. From the restart Brian Haule had a glorious chance to make it seven but delayed enough for Kamurasi to make a save.

Six goals, three points, a home win, eight games unbeaten, great team performance, a settled squad....Long may it continue!
