RAMS LOSE 100% RECORD

BEACONSFIELD SYCOB 0 BARTON ROVERS 4

The Rams 100% start to the season - which had seen them briefly top the Calor Gas League Central Division - was comprehensively ended by a strong, well organised Barton Rovers side.

Barton started the match strongly and scored after just seven minutes when Liam McDevitt sent a shot through a crowded area and an unsighted James Reading making his debut in the SYCOB goal. Four minutes later it should have been two nil but somehow the ball came back off a post.

As the half wore on The Rams did settle down and both Will Sturgess and Yashwa Romeo had half chances but Barton always looked threatening on the counter attack.

At 1-0 there is always hope of an equalizer but apart from one half chance for Romeo early in the second half SYCOB rarely threatened Kyle Forster in the Barton goal. The Rovers defence was well marshalled by Paul Andrews and their midfield seemed to pick up every lose ball.

However it wasn't until the 80th minute that they doubled their advantage when a mistake in the Rams defence gave Nat Peacock a chance which he gleefully took. Within ten minutes it was 0-4 as another Peacock strike and an effort by the impressive Ashley Grinham gave Barton one of their biggest away wins in years.

A bad day at the office for SYCOB but with all things taken into consideration in the first two weeks of the season everyone connected with the club would have settled for six out of nine points. Let's hope we can make it nine out of twelve with victory over Slough on Bank Holiday Monday
