Beaconsfield SYCOB chalked up their first double of the season with victory over high flying Hanwell Town and once again it was a solid display throughout the team that earned The Rams three precious points in their fight against relegation.
A cagey first half saw few chances for either side though Captain Lee Togwell hit a chip just over on 20 minutes and Elliott Carey had a goal-bound shot deflect off one of his own players twenty minutes later. Hanwell were content to play on the break but in truth neither home keeper, Brendan Hazlett, or his Hanwell counterpart, Alex Tokarczyk, saw much action.
The second half, however, was much more exciting and was only five minutes old when Victor Osubu - making his fourth SYCOB "debut" - danced past two Geordie defenders before placing the ball perfectly past the diving Tokarczyk. Five minutes later his strike partner Kofi Lockhart-Adams made space for himself and got a shot away but it was well saved.
Hanwell's Bill Healey blazed over on 79 minutes and ex-Ram Jack Hutchinson hit the SYCOB bar just after but Hazlett was rarely troubled. Osubu could have had a second after another good run but his effort was blocked and he was a constant menace to the Hanwell defence all afternoon.
This was the first win of Gary Meakin's second term at Holloways Park and well deserved it was too! The mixture of young FAB Academy players with more experienced ones is looking good and bodes well for the future of Beaconsfield SYCOB.
