RAMS POINT- LESS AT POTTERS BAR

POTTERS BAR TOWN 2 BEACONSFIELD SYCOB 0

The 2013-14 Calor League Central Division season came to an end for Beaconsfield SYCOB with defeat away at Potters Bar Town. The 2-0 loss plus a win for Royston Town meant The Rams finished in eighth place which, added to a runners up slot in the Berks & Bucks Cup, still meant the club enjoyed a far more successful season than many with much bigger budgets and support.

SYCOB's fourth game in seven days was in truth one game too many and apart from short bursts they were rarely in the match against The Scholars. The opening exchanges were relatively even but that changed in the eleventh minute when Cole Penny connected with a cross to smash the ball into the top corner of The Rams net.

The goal seemed to spark SYCOB into life and the next twenty minutes saw them take charge as Tom O' Regan, AJ and Kofi Lockhart- Adams all went close. Zak Joseph also went close on a couple of occasions but was thwarted by Mike Underwood in the Potters Bar goal.

The second period saw both teams trade chances - a Ryan Phillips cross was met perfectly by Zak in the 53rd minute but was turned away by Underwood. James Reading had to be at his best two minutes later to turn over a Scholars header whilst Jon-Jo Bates went close on 70 minutes with a shot just wide. Ten minutes later, however, the points were Potters Bar as a well worked team move saw Evandro Delgado strike the ball home.

In truth Potters Bar could have doubled their lead in the last ten minutes but two superb saves by Reading plus a post ensured the score remained respectable at 2-0.

And so another long eventful season came to an end. The highs have for sure outweighed the occasional lows and some fine football was played by some very fine footballers overseen by a fine management team. If the core of the side can be joined by a couple of new recruits then there is no reason why next season can't be the best yet in the short history of Beaconsfield SYCOB FC
