Rams return to winning ways

Ram of the match: Joe Lawal

Beaconsfield ended their long wait for 3 points with an emphatic 3-0 win over North Leigh at Holloways Park.

Beaconsfield looked to pile on the pressure in the opening 15 mins, and while both teams tried to find their feet in the game, the hosts created a couple of good chances. Beaconsfield deservedly took the lead in 17th minute, as Joe Lawal was brought down in the box, to give Akiel Raffie a chance from the spot. Raffie tucked the penalty away in style, firing the ball into the top left of the net.

There was a lengthy stoppage with a nasty head injury to a North Leigh defender, which resulted in 5 minutes being added to the end of the first half. North Leigh had their chance in added time, with an excellent cross bravely defended by Kingston White – Glean. The half finally ended with Beaconsfield 1-0 up.

Beaconsfield started the second half well, and doubled their advantage when Joe Lawal stole the ball from the North Leigh defence, with work still to do he went past 2 defenders and calmly slotted into the net to make it 2-0 to the hosts.

North Leigh weren’t without their chances, but Beaconsfield defended well from the front & continued to keep the visitors at arm's length, with goalkeeper Eddie Brearey forced into a fine save as the game neared full time.

With only a few minutes left on the clock Beaconsfield wrapped up the game, a shot from substitute Maks Jarzabek was saved, leaving Joe Lawal with a tap in for his second of the night, to make the game 3-0.

Beaconsfield are back in action on Saturday, with a trip to Hertford Town.
