Ram's Share the Points with High-Flying Hayes & Yeading

Rams Man of the Match - Jerome Ecclestone.
Smith keeps Beaconsfield at bay and secures a point for Hayes and Yeading.
Hayes and Yeading may have enjoyed possession and territorial dominance, par-ticularly in the first half, but Beaconsfield created the better quality chances and were unfortunate to come up against visiting keeper Jack Smith who was in no mood to surrender his clean sheet bonus.
After an initial attacking flurry from their hosts, Hayes and Yeading settled well into their rhythm and began to take control. Scott Donnelly and Karl Cunningham spent much of the first half on the front foot with Francis Amartey and Oluwasanmi Odelusi prominent and Dylan Kearney providing a focal point for the attack.
Beaconsfield found themselves under sustained pressure and often compounded their problems by surrendering possession too cheaply.
For all the pressure though the visitors created few clear cut opportunities and on the few occa-sions they did carve out shooting opportunities Adam Forster in the home goal was not extended as the efforts sailed high and wide or were blocked to safety by the home defence.
The back four were outstanding retaining their shape and their discipline throughout, ably assist-ed by Bayley Brown and Jordan ‘AJ’ Ajanlekoko putting out fires and denying the visitors time and space in the final third.
Amartey seemed the most likely to break the deadlock for the visitors but despite being the best player on the field in the first period, lack of composure at the key moments prevented him from creating a quality opening for himself or a team mate. On the one occasion he was able to get a run on goal, a heavy touch gave Forster the opportunity to spring from his line and make a smart brave save claiming the ball at the onrushing strikers feet.
The Rams struggled to mount any consistent pressure before the break but with Jefferson Louis leading the line and occupying the Hayes defence, assisted by the willing running of Charlie Losasso, Aaron Minhas and James Ewington they did enough to keep the visitors busy.
Jerome Ecclestone’s long throw was a potent weapon all afternoon. Jordan ‘AJ’ Ajanlekoko ap-peared to have the shirt almost ripped from his back as he attempted to challenge Smith for an early effort and it was from a later similar position that The Rams created their first effort on target as Bayley Brown’s flicked back header was saved at the foot of a post by a tumbling Smith.
Half time 0-0
The second half was a much more even affair as Gary Meakin made tactical tweaks to provide more support for Louis and Ewington up front and prevent the ball coming back as quickly as it had in the first half. Tom Scott was more prominent in the attacking third and drew several fierce challenges and yellow cards for Odelusi and Jake Shepherd.
Louis had an early looping header comfortably saved by Smith before the chance of the game fell to Ewington. Bursting through and beating the offside trap the striker straightened towards goal and hit his shot early as Smith advanced. The keeper threw up an arm and managed to de-flect the ball wide.
From the resulting corner Jerome Ecclestone found space, out jumped everyone and beat Smiths attempted punch to send in a firm header which flashed a foot wide of the post.
Hayes continued to press and broke with pace on the flanks but for the most part they were play-ing in front of The Rams back four who whilst occasionally stretched did not break, keeping them at arms length.
Kearney was withdrawn on 62 minutes. Whilst his replacement Rico Greco added pace and trick-ery ultimately the visitors lost the focal point for their attacks.
At the other end The Rams continued to ask more questions. Tom Scott was brought down by a double tackle for which Odelusi picked up his caution. Charlie Losasso fired the resulting free kick over the wall from 30 yards and was denied by Smith diving full length to his right to turn the ball around the post.
Moments later Ewington again sprung the offside trap but as the ball flew over the despairing jump of Denzel Williams the ball caught the sprinting striker on the shoulder and bounced to safe-ty.
Meakin gave a debut to Oliver McCoy as Aaron Minhas limped off and Ade Shokunbi replaced Jefferson Louis who gave his all for 80 minutes.
With Ewington now in the loan striker role The Rams continued to look the more likely and they almost pinched it at the death. Losasso’s persistence won a late corner and the delivery again found Ecclestone who met the ball full force six yards out in the centre of the goal. WIth hindsight he may be met it too well. Take nothing away from Smith though who made a brilliant reaction save throwing his hands at the ball but the keeper needed help as he was only able to push the ball up and to the side but not to safety. The rebound looped to the head of James Taylor at the far post but his goal-bound header was smuggled wide by a defender. The resulting corner was cleared to safety.
Ultimately both teams will feel they could have come away with more that than the point they ended up with but The Rams in particular can take heart from the result coming on the back of the equally good point at Hartley Wintney.
They now have a week off as others are involved in cup competitions before the visit to Farnbor-ough on 24th October.
