RAMS MAN OF THE MATCH: Alex Cathline
Beaconsfield’s eight game unbeaten League run came to a shuddering halt at the hands of Farnborough as they suffered a very bad day at the office.
The visitors were quick off the mark, the impressive Andrew Musungo nearly catching Ravan Constable out with a chipped effort on seven minutes. Two minutes later Farnborough did take the lead as Perry Coles set up Andrew Sealey-Harris for a tap in.
Constable had been visibly struggling in the early stages and he was forced to go off on twelve minutes. With no sub keeper it was forward Brendan Matthew who took over between the sticks and for nigh on half an hour he was well protected by his defence. On 38 minutes, however, he was beaten by a curling effort by Reggie Young and two minutes later the Farnborough midfielder grabbed his second as the visitors threatened to run riot. On 43 minutes, however, a Rams corner crashed off the bar and the rebound was poked home by Reece Yorke to give Beaconsfield a glimmer of hope.
Hopes of a comeback were dashed on 49 minutes when Farnborough easily broke up a Rams attack and ran the length of the pitch where Connor Cullen was on hand to slot the ball past Matthew. Four became five on 57 minutes when Beaconsfield failed to clear a corner and Sean Francis was on hand to head past The Rams stand-in keeper.
To their credit The Rams still gave Farnborough a game – Dan Brown effort on 62 minutes only just missing he target - and on 83 minutes Bashaj Pashaj pulled a goal back with a fine solo effort. Almost immediately though, Farnborough restored their four goal advantage as Young hit home to complete his hat-trick.
It wasn’t all doom and gloom at Holloways Park however, as the annual Bring A Gift For Christmas event saw supporters and officials of both sides donate toys in aid of the Children’s Ward at Wycombe Hospital. A big thank you to the Meakin and Blackburn families for overseeing the collection which should put some big smiles on the patients faces this Xmas.
Come On You Rams!
