Beaconsfield and Aylesbury United faced each other for the second time in 48 hours and once again it was The Rams who prevailed though if The Ducks had taken more of their chances it may well have been them progressing to the Semi Final of the Berks & Bucks Cup.
Aylesbury United didn't get off to the best of starts, losing two players (Bajarama and Grace) to injury in the first ten minutes. If that wasn't enough they went behind on sixteen minutes from a fine shot by the in form Charlie Losasso.
That was a s good as it got for Beaconsfield in the first half as The Ducks regrouped and came at their hosts - Taylor Collins shot just wide on 22 minutes, Stacey Field headed over on 24 minutes and Shiblu Miah curled one just over on 32 minutes. They did get a deserved equaliser on 42 minutes when Collins sent a fine effort past Jake Soutter in the Beaconsfield goal. 1-1 at half time but could so easily have been at least three to the visitors.
As Beaconsfield have found so often, if you don't take your chances you get punished and that's exactly what happened to Aylesbury United. A fairly uneventful second half - Beaconsfield didn't have a shot on target until the 76th minute - finally came to life on 78 minutes when a deflected shot by Lee Togwell flew past Dan Green in The Ducks goal to put Beaconsfield in front. Just over ten minutes later Jack Read had a glorious chance to make it three for the home side but curled his effort just wide when well placed.
This was The Rams fourth straight win at home which, after a run of league defeats, shows great character and bodes well for the tough looking series of away fixtures coming up.
