Rams Man Of The Match: AARON MINHAS
Beaconsfield’s amazing away run continued with a hard fought victory at Bedford Town though yet again a serious injury – this time to Omar Vassell – over shadowed any celebrations.
In a strong wind both sides struggled to get any rhythm going in the early exchanges. That changed on 17 minutes when Aaron Minhas played a great ball into Captain Wes Daly who took a touch and then fired past Kyle Forster for his sixth goal of the season.
The Rams thought they’d scored a second on 26 minutes when Alex Cathline beat Forster to the ball and side footed towards an empty net only for Richard Platt to clear the ball in the nick of time.
A clash of heads between Omar Vasell and Michael Peacock on 34 minutes saw Omar laying in some discomfort on the pitch. Credit must go to both clubs medical teams for dealing with it quickly and our best wishes go out to Omar for a speedy recovery.
The second period saw the expected siege of The Rams defence by The Eagles – Joel Norris should have done better on 48 minutes with a free header and the lively David Manu forced a save out of loanee Rams custodian Ravan Constable four minutes later. Beaconsfield were content to play on the break, Andre Costa going close on 59 minutes but more than once promising situations were lost with a poor choice of final ball.
Ably marshaled by Luke Neville and Michael Peacock The Rams defence coped well with the Bedford attacks – until added time when, from a Rams corner, Bedford broke away via Brad Woods-Garness but instead of shooting (and probably scoring) he passed to Manu who was in an offside position and the chance was gone. Phew!
This was a great three points on the road for Beaconsfield at a venue that is not normally a happy hunting ground. They lie fifth in the table ahead of a run of tough fixtures, both home and away, on the run into Christmas.
Come On You Rams!
