The Rams returned from the long trip to Rugby Town with three hard earned points that saw them move up to third in the league, chalk up their tenth consecutive win and stretch their unbeaten run to sixteen games.
One of only two games in the Central Division to be played, the first half was a largely forgettable affair with both teams cancelling each other out and the strong winds making free flowing football an impossibility. With very few chances created by either side it was no surprise that the teams went in at half time having not troubled the scoreboard.
The second 45 were much more enjoyable - SYCOB started off strongly and exerted pressure on the Rugby defence with a series of one touch moves though in fairness home keeper Niall Cooper didn't have to make any saves of note.
The SYCOB defence - superbly marshalled by Reece Yorke and Brad Hewitt - were the busier of the two, James Reading saving one on the line in the 70th minute after a bout of ping pong in The Rams six yard box. David Kolodynski, the divisions top scorer, then incredibly missed a chance in the 80th minute and it looked as though it was only a matter of time before Rugby made the breakthrough. However, with Rugby continuing to spurn their chances SYCOB played on the break and one such counter - in the 95th minute - led to a scuffed Jack Hutchinson shot just inside the twelve yard area deflect off a Rugby defender and sneak into the goal.
The celebrations from the SYCOB bench showed just how much of a TEAM that manager Gary Meakin has moulded. If everyone at the club can work together as one there really is no limit to what can be achieved.
