RAMS WIN CUP GOAL FEST!

BEACONSFIELD SYCOB 5 BRACKNELL TOWN 3

Beaconsfield SYCOB progressed to the next round of the FA Cup with a resounding 5-3 victory against spirited Hellenic Leaguers Bracknell Town.

New signing Aaron Lansiquot could have opened his goal account with The Rams within the first ten minutes but it was club stalwart Nathan Poulton who cracked in the first goal on twelve minutes. Bilal Butt then had two glorious chances to score but missed both and when Bracknell's Andrew Vaughan scored one against the run of play in the 29th minute you did wonder if The Rams would rue the early misses.

Poulton brought out a good save from Chris Adams just on the half hour and this was followed by an even better block by SYCOB's James Reading as Bracknell showed they were well up for this match. It was Poulton who then combined with Butt to give him a third goal scoring chance and this time Bilal gladly accepted. 2-1 on 43 minutes and within a minute it was 3-1 as Bilal stroked home a penalty (possibly harshly) awarded after Lansiquot was brought down by Adams.

The second half began with both sides making and missing chances but a goal duly came in the 50th minute when Bracknell were awarded a penalty (maybe ref Christopher Read was trying to even up the one given to SYCOB in the first half?!). Shane Cooper-Clark converted with ease and it looked like The Rams had a bit of a scrap on their hands.

On fifty two minutes though Lansiquot did get his goal and that knocked the stuffing out of Bracknell a bit. Substitute Yashwa Romeo had a couple of good chances to score before, in the 72nd minute, he finally did hit the target after being set up by Lansiquot.

Jordan AJ Ajanlekoko and Nathan Poulton both had further chances to add to the score but it was Bracknell who completed to goal fest for the day when Marcus Frederick scored in the 88th minute.

Reward for the victory is a home tie against Burnham on Saturday September 14th which should be a pretty "lively" game as they feature quite a few of last seasons SYCOB players (Ryan Blake, Ryan Upward, Adam Bernard, Anthony Page, Duane Lee) plus old manager Byron Walton.

Before that though The Rams return to league action on Tuesday 3rd September with a trip to AFC Hayes for a 7.45 kick off. Post Code for the ground is UB4 8DD. This is followed on Saturday the 7th with a home league game against Marlow.

Come On You Rams!
