On a lovely sunny day, Beaconsfield and Northwood, the divisions two out of form teams, provided nothing to suggest their winless streaks were about to come to an end.
The game was preceded by a perfectly observed minutes silence for the legend that was Taff Vittle, a long standing supporter and committee member who passed away only 48 hours earlier.
It was easy to see in the early stages why both sides are currently struggling - simple passes were going astray, crosses going out of play and neither keeper having much to do. On 15 minutes, however, Ollie Jones linked up with Charlie Losasso to send in a shot that was easily dealt with by Northwood's Borja Loeches-Teixeira. Three minutes later Losasso sent a header just over as Beaconsfield managed to string together some semi decent passages of play though with no real cutting edge.
Northwood are still involved in a relegation battle and manager Mark Burgess obviously instilled a sense of urgency in his half time team talk as Northwood generally bossed the first part of the second half. Louis Bircham sent an effort just over on 46 minutes and Joakim Ehui forced a good stop out of Brendan Hazlett on 60 minutes. Beaconsfield responded with an effort off the post on 68 minutes from debutant Francis Arartey and an 82nd minute shot by Losasso that was dealt with by Loeches-Teixeira.
In truth though this was a game short on quality and showed why both sides are on terrible end of season runs.
