Beaconsfield SYCOB could - should - have returned home from Leighton with all three points and a far superior goal difference to their hosts - and they could have had the game won by half time such was their dominance. However, it is goals that win games and SYCOB could have won two matches with the amount of chances they created and missed in this one.
The first chance for The Rams came on five minutes when Victor Osobu fired just over and seven minutes later the same player rounded Zaki Oualah in the Leighton goal but his effort was cleared off the line and Aaron Berry couldn't convert the follow up. Victor did get on the score-sheet at the third time of asking when, in the fourteenth minute, a clipped pass over The Reds defence by Eliott Carey fell invitingly for the striker who ran and on and placed a great shot past Oualah.
The Reds came straight back at SYCOB and had an effort cleared off the line on 16 minutes and Brendan Hazlett made a good save a minute later from a Reds attack. The 26th minute saw Alex Murray make a great run down the right but his inch perfect pass was somehow scooped over the bar by Osobu. Berry then turned his marker on thirty minutes and got a shot away only to see it hit the post. Just before half time Victor again rounded the keeper but his effort was cleared off the line by Crook - SYCOB should have been out of sight!
The second period started with Aaron Berry somehow missing a sitter and then Victor hitting the post with a back header. Chances came and chances went and this offered encouragement to Leighton and they seemed to come back into the game, playing on the break, and Hazlett made a good save in the 75th minute to keep his side in front. You could tell a goal was coming though and on 80 minutes Leighton got their equaliser - one minute The Rams should have scored through Osobu the next the ball was in the SYCOB net as Aaron Morgan prodded home from a swift counter attack. Unbelievable.
Still SYCOB could have won it at the death as both Osobu and Ollie Jones managed to miss highly presentable chances that looked easier to score.
A win would have put SYCOB above their hosts and done wonders for their Goals For column. With some really tough games coming up (and other teams around them having games in hand) they have to hope this game got all the misses out of their system and that they will make the most of all the chances coming their way in the next batch of fixtures.
Come On You Rams!
